Cap 2: Electric Boogaloo

Ladies and gentlemen, I thought we should have a reaction/discussion post herein. Please do link to your own personal movie reaction posts if you have them.

Now that we know a little more about the past and future in the MCU, I'll be moving Fury up in canon to Cap 1. Avengers will follow thereafter. Everyone is obviously free to follow their own timelines. As usual, I am always ready for OOMs, should you so desire.

Brief reaction:

MY GIRL. NATASHA. BB. YOUR FACE.

1984 is the bullshit thing I've ever heard in my life, because the youngest I could ever buy a non-old Natasha would be about 35, 36 in Avengers. Obviously for Milliways (regardless of any splittings into AUs and different timeliness), it's totally non-millicanonical. Although I can buy it that it's her current official birthdate on the records, and Zola is a decades-old computer who makes glitches.

I admit to shedding a manly tear or two during the movie. But I refuse to say when, on the grounds that it will incriminate me.

HEY quick thought - gramarye1971 spotted why 1984 might be a Significant Date that Zola would ping on, and it actually makes PERFECT SENSE for it to be when Nat left given Events That Were Occurring (which you probably already know but I didn't know the full extent so I share that there are links to history facts in my main-journal spoilerific post comments).

Yes! I saw those links briefly, but I haven't managed to look into them yet (yaaaay guest! yaaaaay trying to finish this fiiiic). But I think it makes a lot of sense, and also why she chooses it later as her new birthdate.

We can get this working, oh yes.

The Zola thing actually had me kind of pondering Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon.

Yes indeed. I think we'll see on Tuesday, but given the predictive nature of that algorithm... there does seem to be a connection.

Yeah I mean, I came right off of catching up on this week's episode so it was fresh in my mind but with what we know of the Clairvoyant and their relation to S.H.I.E.L.D. I wonder if they also have a connection to HYDRA. However there's no proof of that, that's just my stream of consciousness.
