Hey gang!

Just to further clarify a comment I made in another post:

Tl and I have decided, after a few months of discussion, to make our Clint and Natasha AU from the MCU cast in M'ways. This is mostly just so we're free to do our thing post-Avengers should it come up without stepping on anyone else's toes. Of course, they aren't aware of it...yet.

(And Bucky | Alex and young Nataliya are a bit wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey-multiversey - details or M'ways!handwave pending)

But given this, and other pups coming in from different places, I thought it might be a good idea just to open up the post to where everyone else is in various timelines and worlds.

Sooo, guys, where your pups at?

First off...Ashie, you must be aware of the glitch in CA:WS where we're told Natasha is only 30, and yet served in the KGB (defunct with the USSR). Clearly, she is much older than SHIELD's compromised database told even CRT Zola. Which plays right into your hands, yes?

Anyway, Howard remains in 1947, ostensibly helping run the SSR, but probably letting Peggy be the real boss while he's running Stark Industries. Our new Peggy and I need to hash this out. And I can finally see about writing that "Howard is forced to work with Zola" fic that inspired me to app Howard in the first place. The sad truth of Howard's death is so far in the future that I don't need to address it. But might someday.

It is a bit odd knowing that even while Howard and Peggy think things are good, HYDRA is slowly regrouping. It's sort of like being in a Star Wars prequel, where you know that the bad guys win despite all that you do. I wonder how much we will get to find out in canon, from either an Agent Carter series or Age of Ultron.

I am VERY aware of this, yep. There might have been many hours of shrieked indignation, because the fuck, movie, the fuck. I think there's enough tells in the movie itself that this is textually a lie, so it's all good. And if it wasn't, I'd be ignoring. 1984 is the year she gets out, I've decided.

And ahhhh, Bucky killing Howard later. That is going to hurt.

Let's not forget that they could possibly go the way of the comics and Howard faked his death. He is clever enough to still do that IMO in the MCU. We could always millicanon that as our AU if you'd like.

Can I preemptively apologize for December 17, 1991? *weak smile*

(I think that was the date on the newspaper, anyway....)

Unless in a fit of frustration I go AU in forty years.

Frankly, I am now starting to feel a bit depressed that Howard is helping to sow the seeds of something really bad. Whatever you might think of the real Operation Paperclip, the ex-Nazi scientists in the real world stayed ex-Nazis. And given that Zola was a coward and didn't kill himself, I didn't think of him as a true believer till now.

More than fair!

I never thought Zola was a True Believer per se, but I can see him sticking with whatever organization gave him the resources and funding and support to do his weapons development and his experiments. Whether that be Department X, HYDRA, or whoever; Zola's interests are his own.

I'm sorry, though; it must be more than frustrating to find out how good works were turned to darker purposes. If it's any consolation, I strongly suspect that it's the foundation that Howard and Peggy and Col. Phillips built that gives SHIELD the good to offset the bad, and creates the roots to build something stronger after the events of this film.

I'm actually starting to develop some ideas about the SSR, HYDRA, Operation Paperclip, deNazification, and the Cold War. Will try to organize them at some point.

I shall greatly look forward to hearing them, especially as over here I'm trying to fit the pieces together with Dept. X, HYDRA, Operation Paperclip (in re: Zola in particular), and the Cold War! I have initial thoughts, but they're in the "sketched out, now check history" phase.

For some reason I accidentally put this in reply to Ashie but will put this here too just in case:

Let's not forget that they could possibly go the way of the comics and Howard faked his death. He is clever enough to still do that IMO in the MCU. We could always millicanon that as our AU if you'd like.
