For my own accounting, how much time has passed since The Avengers and Cap2? I think I found one source that stated a couple of years, but that doesn't seem right to me.

Also, based on the sweatshirt Sam is wearing in the opening scene, I am thinking he is part of the Air National Guard and thus likely helped clean up or provide aid to the civilians in New York after the attack. Everyone okay with this or can you think of a reason this is a bad idea? I figure he never got close to any of the Avengers, just helped with first aid and cleanup. He also wouldn't have had the Falcon suit, so likely wouldn't have stood out to any of you guys.

That does make me wonder how long Coulson's convalescence was.

(Sam is proving to be ridiculous fun. Plus Milliways needs a counselor who's not a serial killer. ;p)

Marvel and timelines don't really work (HAH trying to get the previous movies to line up), but the gaps between IM3, Thor2 and CA2 all make sense to me.

A while, I'm guessing! But I don't find that totally unbelievable - we don't know how long his coming back from the dead took, or how long it actually took for him to recover and get back on his feet. Then some degree of monitoring, and post-Avengers, SHIELD is going to be scrambling for all the people they can get. He'd be really useful in helping to co-ordinate various things - and that fills in time before AoS. Or however Bethan goes to do it, obviously.

I'm pretty sure canon flat-out states that it's been a year between The Avengers and Thor 2 (so two years between Thor 1 and Thor 2, at least for Earth time.) Unless there's been Word of God in an interview or something, we don't yet know how Thor 2 and Cap 2 match up, but Thor 2 has to be either simultaneous or (more likely) earlier since Darcy's still trying to call SHIELD during it. So two years between The Avengers and Cap 2 works for me.

And I have no objections at all to the Sam headcanon -- I like it! Admittedly Thor is probably the least entangled in Earth militaries and governmental systems of all the Avengers, but for what that's worth.

That makes a lot of sense. I think each phase's movie are supposed to happen within a short period of time to each other, so I can see Thor2 happening either right before or during the first parts of Cap2. As to where IM3 happens, no clue. = ]

ETA: Reading comprehension fail. So I guess Thor2 happens a year before Cap2 by your math. Which I can accept. I do find myself wondering how long Coulson, Son of Coul, was being operated on and how long he had to convalesce since AoS seems to happen a few months before Cap2 to me.

And now I am looking forward to Sam becoming Son of Wil.

Ha! Son of Wil he will indeed be.

And yeah, I mean, I do rather wonder what Thor's been up to in the year before Cap2, if it has indeed been a full year, but presumably either canon will answer that or I'll get to make it up. We'll find out which!
