marvelways | (no subject)

I have been kicking around ideas for when and how to bring Sam here into Milliways for the first time and I think I've come up with an idea. In my head canon, he was part of the Nation Guard that showed up after the battle of New York to help clean and contain. This also might be the first time he gives serious thought to becoming a PTSD councilor as he helps civilians with all they've experienced.

Anyway, my thought is that he is either touching or walks through something of the Chitauri's that makes him think that is what caused him to go to Milliways. It fits in with the tone the larger MCU seems to be heading, at least in my head. =]

I mention this because I know you Avengers type haven't run through the movie yet and also because I am thinking that Sam, being the good soldier he is, would report his experience of Milliways to someone. I am thinking he is on the ball enough to want to report it to SHIELD since they are likely in charge of the operation.

The next challenge is what agent he reports to. Coulson is out, of course, as is Hill since she doesn't recognize him when she sees him in Cap 2. I also can't use Sitwell for the same reason. I can see an argument for Sam being minor enough in New York that they might forget his face, except for him reporting Milliways. I am thinking I'll use Felix Blake (both as he never met Sam in Cap2 and he was already assigned to the Chitauri clean up in the short Item 47), unless anyone has another idea? I doubt Sam would rate enough to gain Fury's attention, unless Milliways is a key word? I also doubt Simmons would be interviewing a soldier, but I am open to negotiating if one of you wants to thread this out.

If this reads as contradictory to anyone's head canon, let me know and I'll figure something else out.

Also I might have super-duper forgotten that Sam was part of Team America in Rikki's original universe so um. Are you okay with her recognizing him?

Sure...though to be fair, if my plan is approved, he'll be coming in wearing BDUs. = ]

So after double-checking the Nomad mini-series, she does recognize him in costumed identity and knows his civilian identity, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Golden! Though he will likely be a little off kilter when she mistakes him for someone from a different world. = ]

It'll be good for him. It'll prepare him for all that happens in Cap2, right?

He can bond with a Barnes! \o/ That can only go well.

Seeing Bruce is reminding me of all the Tumblr fics of Tony discovering same and making him the unofficial Avengers therapist. = ]

And my quick reply fumbled a typo. That was supposed to be "Make Sam the unofficial therapist" since Bruce isn't that kind of doctor. = ]

That makes a whoooooole lot more sense because a) Sam would actually be good at it, and b) Bruce would/is not. :D

If you want a Simmons when he comes in, I'm definitely good with that - she'd be over in a trice if he has anything Chitauri-esque on him, because OMFG no we are containing that crap.

I don't know how effective she'd be at actually helping with anything else, but everyone needs a scientist who can ramble at high speed, yes?

I'm liking the idea of Simmons being one of his first contracts in Milliways. He could be holding one of the headdresses and thinking it's messing with his head. :)
