So a thought occurred to me that I feel is worth bringing up and that is how we as muns want our pups exposed to other Marvel continuities. I know Ben already stepped in this big time with the MCU's Steve Rogers but we are hand waving he never mentioned his Captain America.
With at least two movie universes (MCU - Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Avengers, not to mention the other movies coming in the next few years + Fox MCU - Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Punisher and Daredevil/Electra (which all seem to be in their own continuity, though X-Men and Fantastic Four might be in the same as a folder with Franklin Richards was seen on Stryker's desk in X-Men2), all the comics and the animated shows, the risk of cross over is pretty high. This can be really disconcerting for those canons with little exposure to other worlds (like the different movie-verses, aren't they so cute?).
So how about we tag in with what level of "Hey, I know you! We're old buddies...no wait, you aren't the gal I know are you? Opps, my bad" you are comfortable with.
Also, mostly for the comic pups, but I won't say no to other canons, Ben Grimm will be spending some time human next month. If anyone would like to show him a good time in Bar or in OOM land, I'm all for it.
Additionally, I'm planning some covert fun with Jessica Drew and preliminary details are here.

Date: 2012-12-13 06:44 am (UTC)Movie-verse Hank would be okay with it, but I would like mention of his furry state to wait until he reaches it himself. I don't want him getting any hint it is a possibility at this point. Aside from that, go for it. He's read the current multi-worlds theory.

Date: 2012-12-13 09:51 am (UTC)I'd rather people didn't recognise him on sight, though. I'm assuming that the comic book versions of Bruce Banner look different, and I'm aware that the Hulk certainly does (even comes in different colours!) So no wandering up and saying 'hey, Bruce,' like they already know him. But if they recognise the name, and know about his alter ego, I'm alright with that.

Date: 2012-12-13 07:05 pm (UTC)...ahaha. Comics never fail to make me gape with their Weird. But, yes! It's good to know she can do it, and it may come in useful in situations in the future. Thank you!

Date: 2012-12-13 01:49 pm (UTC)Status on interworld info: recognizing her is cool, expect her to be a flying bundle of spoilers for her continuity (A:EMH) which is why I'm occasionally shy about tagging her out to the MCU pups.

Date: 2012-12-13 02:18 pm (UTC)In another post, it was discussed that the Avengers' verse and the X-Men movieverse aren't the same to keep confusion down. Charles is primarily movieverse as I don't know the comics continuities as well and don't feel comfortable delving into them.
Basically if there's a Charles in your pups' version of Marvel, feel free to know his name, but since he's young, recognition wouldn't make as much sense. Though if you can think of a way for it to make sense, let me know and we'll see if we can figure something out. As I love all the different parts of the Marvelverse and how they intersect and don't.

Date: 2012-12-13 02:26 pm (UTC)We have the Marvel CU and the various phases, i.e. Iron Man, Avengers, etc.
We have the X-Men movies which with XMFC2 coming we know are all tied together despite continuity errors.
We have the Fantastic Four.
We have Spider-Man
And then all the other Fox and Sony pictures, Ghost Rider, Punisher, etc.
Maybe it's better we don't try and mix and match, pshew.

Date: 2012-12-13 02:27 pm (UTC)Thor will be confused for a while by "Hey, I know you! Well, an AU you!", but not distressed by it. People are welcome to recognize him! Honestly, unless it's explicitly "Hey, I know you personally and work with you in the Avengers," he'll probably assume that he's being recognized as Thor the god of thunder by someone more learned in Norse legends than most modern Midgardians seem to be. He was way, way more confused and upset by meeting SPN!Loki than he would be by any AU Marvelverse folk.
If you expect the subject of his brother Loki to come up in a way that's potentially spoilery for him for what goes down in the movieverse in his future, maybe talk to me. If they're discussing what's clearly an AU fate for his brother, that's fine, although it'll probably make him broody/angry/sad.

Date: 2012-12-13 03:38 pm (UTC)It's all cool.
She's also good at recognizing people and keeping her mouth shut about it, if that makes things easier, too.
I like easy. Also painless.

Date: 2012-12-13 04:02 pm (UTC)Regarding his OWN canon: ha. Ha, ha ha. The way this is working right now is that he's aware of the Captain America comics shown in the movie (Steve told him about them), and we've basically stamped the Golden/Silver era Marvel comics as the print run that we see starting in Captain America, movie version. The 4 (I think) people who have recognized HIM from them in-bar -- he's only aware that ONE of them did, and he thinks it's from "Steve's comics." So that's basically how he'd think of anyone else recognizing him - er, how Bucky would; the Winter Soldier is something else again, and would play it off as "I don't know who this Bucky guy is, but they say everyone's got a twin somewhere, right?" And then do whatever he could to avoid breaking cover. In short, recognition is fine - the above is how the character will react to it.
Which, on that note - given that I'm not planning to wait until 4 April 2014 to play him again, I am intending to draw directly from Bucky's comics canon to inform in-bar development, but am also hoping to do so in a vague enough way that I can incorporate it seamlessly with whatever the next film gives us. (Since Brubaker's involved, I am hopeful of being able to accomplish that!)
So ... yeah. That's my considerably-more-than-two-cents' worth.

Date: 2012-12-13 04:40 pm (UTC)He has already been exposed to the idea that there is another Fury who visited Milliways as well. Alternate universes are not his problem.
He probably would grill anyone who claimed to know about him, SHIELD, or the Avengers, though. Just in case they know something interesting.

Date: 2012-12-13 04:50 pm (UTC)I haven't read much about him, so I don't know much beyond this. I do know he's not officially in charge of SHIELD, at least publicly. That's Maria Hill.

Date: 2012-12-13 05:03 pm (UTC)He hasn't quite grasped the idea of alternative universes, and as we found in the thread with Ben he doesn't deal with them too well. That should change as time goes on, I expect, but for now I'd rather he didn't know there are other versions of him out there, and he wouldn't recognize anyone who isn't in the MCU.
